MOTD- Manchester City 2-2 Liverpool

FULL TIME- It is full time at the Etihad, and Manchester City have drawn with Liverpool 2-2 for the third consecutive time in all competitions. The game started with Liverpool having the better of City, but in the twenty-first minute a low cross from James Milner found Edin Dzeko, who passed it into the back of the net. Liverpool still had the better of City, and got rewarded for that in the twenty-ninth minute when a poor Javi Garcia clearance found new Liverpool signing Daniel Sturridge just outside the box, who hit a low shot past City goalkeeper Joe Hart. The rest of the half was marred with chances, but they were not put away. The second half again started in the favor of Liverpool, and they got their again got rewarded for that when a Gael Clichy clearance found Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard thirty yards out, who chested it down and hit a thundering dipping volley past Joe Hart into the bottom left corner. It really was a classic Gerrard finish. Everything was going perfectly for Liverpool until the seventieth minute when Pepe Reina stupidly came out to meet a long ball, which Sergio Aguero reached first. Reina did his job though, and shepherded Aguero wide, but Aguero turned and curled it into he net from almost no angle. Liverpool tried to go ahead again, but they couldn’t break City’s defense and the game ended 2-2.
Man of the Match: Daniel Sturridge

MOTD Halftime- Manchester City 1-1 Liverpool

It is halftime at the Etihad and City’s defense have been surprisingly shaky.  The game started with each side keeping possession in their own halves, but then Liverpool started to attack City’s defense, which seemed surprisingly shaky.  Twenty-one minutes into the half though, City;s David Silva played James Milner clear through down the left, who put in a low cross across the box, which Edin Dzeko passed into the back of the Liverpool net.  The goal was against the run of play, but City did not care.  The lead did not last long though, and in the twenty-ninth minute Javi Garcia failed to clear his line, the ball fell to Liverpool’s new signing Daniel Sturridge who hit a stunning shot passed City goalkeeper Joe Hart into the bottom left corner.  Throughout the rest of the half the run of play was about equal, with the only big chance being a mistake back pass from City’s Milner passing Joe Hart and almost going in.  The second half is sure to be exciting, so look out for my post-match review, right here on Football Every Day!

The last two matches between the clubs have finished 2-2, but the odds are still with City to win the game. Liverpool are hoping new signing Daniel Sturridge can link up with Luis Suarez, which will improve their chances of winning dramatically. City are hoping that David Silva can feed Sergio Aguero some killer passes, and that the loss of Mario Balotelli to AC Milan won’t cost them the match. Even though Balotelli is gone, the game will still make headlines, so look out for my halftime and full time review, right here on Football Every Day!
