MOTD- Queens Park Rangers 0-2 Manchester United

This English Premier League match was a good one, with Manchester United getting the win and going fifteen points clear of rivals Manchester City at the top of the table.  The match started slowly, with United keeping the ball, but they almost got themselves in front in the fifteenth minute when Javier Hernandez latched on to a cross and his header forced QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar to tip it over the bar.  After Hernandez’s chance, United started dominating the match and they got rewarded for that in the twenty-third minute when a QPR clearance fell to United full-back Rafael thirty yards out from the QPR goal.  Rafael elected to volley it, and his stunning strike dipped into the top left corner of the QPR goal to put United up 1-0.  United started to push QPR back into their own half, and almost got another goal in the thirty-sixth minute when a long cross from Rafael found an onside Robin van Persie but the Dutchman’s first time volley went inches wide of the post.  But United could not score in the remainder of the first half, and the half ended 1-0 United.

The second half started more open then the first, with both sides attacking the opposition goal.  The first chance of the half came to United in the forty-seventh minute, but Nani’s headed effort was saved at the near post by Cesar.  Despite not being able to keep control of the ball, QPR looked like they could actually get an equalizer, but their only good chance was a Loic Remy shot that was saved on the near post by United goalkeeper David De Gea in the sixty-fourth minute.  Even though they had less control of the match than in the first half, United finally put the game to bed in the eightieth minute when Danny Welbeck played an onside Ryan Giggs in on goal, and Giggs had all the time in the world to compose himself, and he eventually slotted it past Cesar to make the game 2-0 United.  After the goal United started to dominate the game again, but their best chance was a Danny Welbeck shot that was crucially blocked by QPR’s Jermaine Jenas, and the match ended 2-0.
