This Champions League Round of 16 match has dominated by Bayern, who could be winning 5-0 or 6-0. Bayern started the game in total control, with right-back Philip Lahm dominating the right flank, and took advantage of that in the seventh minute when Franck Ribery gave the ball to Tomas Muller on the right, who’s cross was not cleared by Arsenal. It fell to an unmarked Toni Kroos on the edge of the box, and his half-volley bounced off the ground, and past Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and into the bottom right corner of the net. Munich kept dominating, and doubled their lead in the twentieth minute off a corner. The corner was delivered to the near post, and an unmarked Daniel van Buyten headed headed it straight at Szczesny, who couldn’t hold on to it, and Muller poked it into the back of the net from one yard out. Arsenal started to lose their composure, but Bayern’s had to wait to get their next big chance, which came in the forty-fourth minute, when a Philip Lahm cross found the head of a completely open Mario Mandzukic, but his header, which he should have put away, went inches wide of the near post. Bayern couldn’t get another goal though, and the half ended 2-0, with Arsenal having a load to do in the second half. If Arsenal come back or not though, the rest of the match is sure to be exciting, so look out for my full time report of it, right here on Football Every Day!
