This round of 16 Champions League match between Real Madrid and Manchester United promised many goals, and so far it has lived up to that promise. The game started in Madrid’s favor, and after five minutes they should have been ahead when United’s Rio Ferdinand stuck a leg in to stop a cross from reaching the box, but the ball rebounded straight to Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao. But his curling shot was magnificently glanced onto the post by United keeper David De Gea. Then, against the run of play, United grabbed the first goal of the match in the twentieth minute from a corner. Wayne Rooney beautifully curled in the cross, and Danny Welbeck freed himself from his marker and put it past the post marker Raphael Varane and into the far post of the net. Even though United had scored, Madrid kept controlling the game, and got their reward for that in the thirtieth minute from a Cristiano Ronaldo header. He majestically leaped over Patrice Evra and powered Angel Di Maria’s cross into the far post. After that the game started to mellow, but Madrid soon had the flow of the game back in their favor, although they could not score again. The rest of the match is sure to be loaded with goals, so look out for my full time review of it, right here on Football Every Day!
