MOTD (match of the day) review- Aston Villa 1-2 Newcastle United

Newcastle United held off Aston Villa after Villa had a terrible first half but a inspired second. Villa started the game horribly, and paid the price for it in the nineteenth minute, when Moussa Sissoko passed through to Papiss Demba Cisse, who drilled a low shot past Villa keeper Brad Guzan. It only got worse for Villa though, and they doubled their lead when a Jonas Gutierrez cross was headed clear by Villa skipper Ron Vlaar and fell to Yohan Cabaye who volleyed it passed a hapless Brad Guzan into the top left corner. Despite the dreadful first half, Villa played amazingly in the second, and got their reward when, in the forty-eighth minute, Christian Benteke was clipped by Mathieu Debuchy in the box resulting in a penalty. Benteke then sent Newcastle keeper Tim Krul the wrong way, and slotted the penalty into the bottom left corner. Even though Villa had many chances, resulting in fabulous saves from Krul, Newcastle held on to the 2-1 lead.
